Le Marais, St.Ouen

COMPLETED 2017 // EXTENSION & REFURBISHMNET

The house sits on the outskirts of St Ouen’s village with a large garden and rural views, but after a 1980s refurbishment it remained architecturally unremarkable, prompting the clients to seek a full upgrade to create a brighter, more modern home. This was achieved through a refurbishment and extension that introduced a contemporary kitchen, dining, and seating space, with the internal layout opened up to improve flow and bring light deeper into the house. Full-height glazing provides views in multiple directions, and three large roof lights fill the kitchen extension with natural light in all weather. Externally, outdated elements on the retained structure were replaced with contemporary finishes that tie the building together, including aluminium windows and doors, zinc roofing and entrance canopy, new render, and timber cladding that links the house with the timber-clad garden room.
