La Scanie, St.Brelade

COMPLETED 2020 // REFURBISHMENT

The house sits on an elevated site overlooking St Brelade’s Bay, with far-reaching views to the south and west and strong solar gain. The original building had been extended in a way that created an awkward layout and did little to make use of the outlook, and it no longer met the clients’ needs. Godel Architects were appointed to create a modern, efficient family home with a clean modernist character. The chosen approach retained as much of the existing structure as possible, improving sustainability while allowing the building to be adapted and upgraded. Thermal performance was improved, the internal layout was reworked to capture the bay views and support how the clients live, and daylight was brought deeper into the plan, transforming the feel and function of the home.
