Beach House, St.Clements
COMPLETED 2022 // DESIGN AWARD 2024 - AJA Patrons Choice
An incredibly positioned but incongruously designed house was reimagined as a crisp modernist home filled with sunlight, architectural moments, and sweeping views. The design draws attention to the beach-side setting with large southerly glazing that fills the interior with shifting natural light. The visitor’s experience is shaped through controlled sequences of solid and void, light and shadow, and carefully framed views. To achieve high sustainability standards, the building was rebuilt within the original footprint and massing, allowing for larger open spans and a clean, uncompromised architectural language. Bright white render contrasts with dark-framed glazing to create sharp lines and a play of light and shade. The result is a modernist’s dream: a house defined by controlled, ever-changing light and shadow, offering a unique experience throughout the day.
